Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe Airport and transfer to your pre-booked hotel
On this day, meet our guide, who will give you a very warm welcome to Uganda, the pearl of Africa. Be transferred to your pre-booked hotel for serenity.
Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After your early breakfast, commence on the 7.5 hours journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Track southwest via Kayabwe with a stopover at the equator. You will have an illustration by the site guide on how you weigh less while on the equator line and why you do not see your shadow on the equinox day. Proceed with your journey via Masaka-Mbarara with encounters of long horned cows, known as Ankole cows. Have a lunch break at ishanyu food center. Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Bushenyi-Ishaka carpeted with tea estates and banana plantations. Check in at Irungu Forest lodge or Eshama lodge for relaxation ahead of your evening drive at 4:30pm. Catch up with your safari guide, embark on the car and drive to the eastern part of the park in the open plains of Kasenyi. Queen Elizabeth National Park is the second largest and most popular tourist destination given her biodiverse ecosystem ranging from forest to savannah. This park hosts Mammals like lions, leopards, elephants, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, Hippos, Hyenas, Buffalo, honey badgers, aardvarks and many more. The park also hosts over 600bird species ranging from water birds, savannah birds and forest birds including the Lasser flamingos that migrate from lake Nakuru, Kenya in the month of October and April when blue-green algae and crustaceans are in abundance. This drive will last for about2-3hours. Drive back to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and Boat cruise
– Wake up at 6am for your breakfast. After breakfast, meet your safari guide at 6:30am, embark on your car and head out to the savannah for a morning game drive in search for the big 4 like Lions, leopards, elephants and buffalos. other species of mammals like spotted hyenas, deffasa waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, warthogs will be sighted. Look out for birds like the crowned eagle, long crested eagle, southern red bishop, bateleurs and many more. This game drive will take about 5hours. Return to your lodge for a lunch break, ahead of your afternoon boat cruise. Proceed to Kazinga channel for the boat cruise at 2:00pm.
Kazinga channel connects lake Gorge to lake Edward, offers a diverse wildlife including the crocodiles, hippos, tilapia fish, elephants, monitor lizards and numerous water birds like the African fish eagle, giant king fishers, African jacana, African darter, little egrets, white pelicans, papyrus gonolek, hamerkop, water thick-knee and many more. The cruise takes 2 hours, meet your safari guide at dock and drive back to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking.
– Have your hot breakfast at 6:30am, check out of the lodge with all your luggage, well dressed in your trekking attires and embark on the car, take a drive through banana plantations with the view of some crater lakes, to Kalinzu forest for chimpanzee trekking. Meet the forest guide and be briefed on the rules and regulations in the forest. Kalinzu forest is reknown for its rich flora and fauna, including 320 chimpanzees, over 414 tree species and 373 bird species. The forest gives 95% chances of seeing the chimpanzees. This trekking takes about 2-3 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzee. 1 hour of observation and photography will be given to you after encountering them. This moment gives you the opportunity of learning their social behaviors in natural habitat. Meet your guide after trekking and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with lunch enroute. Check in at Kiho gorilla lodge or Bakiga lodge for chilling, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking
Rise up early, dress in your trekking attires, meet your guide with your packed lunch at 7:30am and head out to the visitor’s center for the cultural entertainment ahead of the briefing. you will be given the rules and regulations while trekking. Bwindi is a UNSECO world heritage site, hosting two great apes i.e half of the world’s mountain gorillas and chimpanzee. You will trek through a huge and typical rain forest as you search for Mountain Gorillas with the aid of experienced ranger guide. The Trek will take you 2-3 hours or more depending on the Movement of these giant Apes. Expect forest elephants, mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, duikers during the trekking. After this spectacular Gorilla experience, drive to the community and visit Batwa-pygmy people, learn their history, traditions and way of life. Head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Have your morning breakfast, come out with all your luggage, meet your safari guide at 9:00am and drive to Lake Bunyonyi through Bakiga communities. Check in at Bunyonyi overlanders/Bunyonyi safari resort/Arcadia. Have your Lunch, serenity, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Canoeing and village walk
Have breakfast and catch up with your captain at 9:00am and sail to different islands on the lake including the punishment island, where the Bakiga girls who became pregnant before marriage were dumped to die of hunger. Proceed to the communities and learn the way of life and history of the Bakiga tribe. The lake and the surrounding eco-system inhabit over 200 bird species. in the due cause, birds like common stonechat, singing cisticola, variable sunbird, augur buzzard will be sighted and that’s why the lake is called Bunyonyi, Meaning “Birds”. Return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Lake Mburo and Night game drive
Check out from the lodge with all your luggage, meet your guide at 8:00am and embark on a 205kilometer journey to lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara. Check in at Kigarama wilderness lodge, have your lunch and relax ahead of your night game drive. Have an early at 6:00pm or have your dinner after the drive, catchup with your safari guide at 6:30pm and meet the armed ranger guide and enter the park. Conduct a 3hour game drive in search for nocturnal wildlife like spotted hyenas, leopard, galagos, aardvarks, mongoose, porcupines, wild rabbits, honey badgers, owls, night jar, and many more. When we flash our lights into their eyes, tapetum lucidum looking like a mirror reflects back the light, it charms seeing their eyes shining, aiding their vision at night as they combat their preys. More mammals like Zebras, Topis, giraffes, buffaloes, elands, impalas among others will be seen in clusters as mechanism of protecting themselves from the predators. Head back to your lodge dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Game drive and Boat cruise
Have your breakfast, meet your guide and leave the lodge at 6:30am, head to the savannah for a drive to increase your chances of sighting notable animals like Zebras, Topis, elands, giraffes, impalas among others. The park also boosts over 350 bird species including the crested barbet, red weaver, bearded woodpecker, bare faced go-away bird and others. This drive will last for about 4-5 hours, return to the lodge for lunch ahead of your 2:00pm boat cruise.
Leave your lodge at 1:30pm and drive to lake Mburo. Undertake a cruise on the boat for 2hours. This activity gives you a chance to see pods of hippos, basks of crocodiles and water birds like African fish eagle, shoe bill stork, the black crowned night heron, the long-tailed cormorant, African finfoot, great egrets, rufous-bellied hereon among others. Retreat back to the lodge for relaxation, swimming(optional), dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Transfer to Kampala or Entebbe
Have your hot breakfast, check out from your lodge with your entire luggage, meet your safari guide at 8:00am and embark on a 5hours journey to Kampala via Masaka with a Lunch break in Kampala or Entebbe. After lunch, be dropped at your pre-booked hotel. End of Safari
