Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kampala/Entebbe and transfer to Kisoro.
You will meet our driver guide, be briefed on the safari and embark on a 9-10hours journey via Mbarara-Kabale to Kisoro with a luncheon. Check in at Mutanda eco community lodge or Santaviva for refreshment, dinner and slumber
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park
Wake up for a hot breakfast and restore the energy, grab your packed lunch and head out to the briefing center for the rules and regulations while in the jungle. The trekking commences at 8am and lasts 2-3 hours depending on the location and the movement of the Gorillas. Once sighted, one hour of photography and observation will be recommended. Drive back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Hiking at Sabyinyo
Boost your energy with a hot breakfast ahead of your trek, pick your packed lunch and catch up with your driver guide, be driven to the starting point where you will meet the ranger guide for briefing on the DO’s and DON’T’s while in the mountain and what you should expect during the walk. During this tremendous hike, you will be able to view the summit of this mountain that looks like a worn-out tooth in a gum-line portraying the name “sabyinyo” local word meaning, “iryinyo” (tooth). While at the summit, the mountain boasts of panoramic views of 3 countries, that is Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. This Activity will take approximately 8 hours. Return to your lodge for refreshment, chilling, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Have your hot breakfast and check out with all your luggage. Catch up with your driver guide and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Check in at Arcadia lodge or Bunyonyi over landers for your lunch. You will have a leisure Canoe ride to different islands of lake Bunyonyi including the punishment island where Bakiga girls who became pregnant before marriage would be taken and left to die in isolation. Other islands of the Lake include Akampene, Bushara, Bucuraniko, among others. Encounter Bakiga people on the lake since it’s their main route to access markets, busy trading centers and Kabale town. Enjoy the iconic view of the landscape characterized by hills with farmlands. Different bird species like the egrets, the black herons, jacanas, hadada ibis, weaver birds, swamp fly catchers, pied wagtails, the grey-crowned crane and many more. Retreat back to the lodge for refreshment, have dinner and overnight
Day 5: Community walk and transfer to Queen Elizabeth
Have your morning breakfast, check out of your room with all your luggage, grab your packed lunch and head out for Community walk around Lake Bunyonyi. Learn the traditional lifestyle and cultural practices of the Bakiga people. Bond and participate with them in their farms, learn how farming is done manually, how crops are grown, harvested, prepared and served. Do not hesitate to taste. Meet your driver guide and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check in at Irungu Lodge or Kasenyi safari camp, chill in the wilderness overlooking at animals like elephants, Buffalos, waterbucks, Giant Forest hogs, warthogs, and many more amazing animals wondering in the vicinity of the lodge. You will have your dinner and then later slumber.
Day 6: Morning and Night Game Drive
Wake up early in the morning, Have hot or packed breakfast, catch up with your guide and head out for a morning game drive in the open plains of Kasenyi, the eastern part of the park, in search for a BIG 4 like Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Queen Elizabeth is one of the Uganda’s most popular tourist destination given her rich biodiversity. Mammals like Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, Hippos, leopards, Hyenas, Buffalo, highlights the significance of the park to the eco system. Numerous bird species and reptiles will also be sighted. Drive to Bunyampaka crater lake. This lake gives a melody and different colors of birds like the Lesser Flamingoes which visit Uganda in the month of June, September, December and February when Uganda’s alkaline lakes go down. Other flocks of birds include the grey-headed gull, black-winged stilt, hammer kop, hadada ibis, pied avocet and many more. This truly reveals that Uganda is a birding paradise in the world. The lake is also a source of livelihood to the surrounding communities involved in salt mining activities. Get to know how the salt is mined and packed locally, also learn how the salt pans are inherited from one generation to another. Head back to the lodge for a lunch break and relaxation ahead of your night game drive at 7:00pm.
Have your early dinner, catch up with an armed ranger guide and head out for a night game drive in the eastern direction. This activity enables you to encounter Nocturnals like
Honey badgers, aardvarks, genet cats, porcupines, hyenas, lions, leopards, the eagle owls, night jars and many more hunting for their preys. This will give you a remarkable and memorable experience in the African wilderness. Retreat back to the lodge and slumber.
Day 7: Boat Cruise and evening game drive
Wake up in the morning, have hot breakfast. Meet your driver guide and drive to Kazinga Channel for a mid-morning boat cruise at 11am, during a cruise you will have a chance to sight Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephant’s, Buffalo, Giant Forest Hogs among others. For the birds, the Papyrus Gonolek, the pink barked Pelicans, Malachite Kingfisher, African Fish Eagle, Water Thickener, among others will be sighted. Drive back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation ahead of your evening game drive.
Head out for an evening game drive for an adventure in the savanna. As the weather cools down, most of the animals becomes more active eventually increasing the chances of encountering big cats like lions and leopards. Expect more diurnal animals like elephants, bushbucks, waterbucks, buffaloes and many more grazing and wallowing as part of their daily activities. Return back to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
you will have your morning breakfast, check out of your room with all your luggage. Embark on the car and be driven to your last destination with a luncheon. End of the safari.
