Itinerary
Day 1: Pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe and transfer to Jinja.
Meet our guide from Kfir Adventures, he will give you a highlight about your safari before you embark on the 2hrs 50minutes journey to Jinja city. Drive east of Uganda from Kampala city, you will have a brief stopover at Namugongo martyrs’ shrine where the first Ugandan Christians were martyred because of their faith. Have a precise tour around the shrines and later proceed with your drive through Mabira Forest, one of the large, tropical forests in Uganda. Numerous species of trees and birds will be sighted, because of its rich biodiversity, mammals like the grey-cheeked mangabey, baboons, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many more can also be seen. Continue to Jinja and check in at Nile porch river lodge or Signature hotel for your hot lunch. Later you will catch up with the boat cruise to the source of the Nile. This activity will take about 1-2hours. During the cruise, you will sight lots of wildlife like king fishers, cormorants, fish eagles, monitor lizards and scenic views. You will also visit mahatma Gandhi’s monument. This is a significant landmark in honor of his legacy, also an important site to visit for people who love history. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2:Nile water rafting.
Have your hot breakfast, meet your guide at your lodge and be driven to the starting point of the rafting. Meet your rafting guide, be briefed on the safety precautions, embark on the inflatable rafting boat for a half or full day rafting depending on your preference. Expect to see individual from the local communities fishing, powerful rapids of the White Nile, monkeys, crocodiles and birds. It’s one activity that will leave the best memories of your Safari. If you love the thrill of playing adrenaline rush of abseiling, then you’re sure to enjoy water rafting. Meet your safari guide after and drive to your hotel for a refreshment, relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
After your breakfast, check out from your lodge with all your luggage, meet your safari guide and embark on a 6hour 40mins journey to Murchison falls national park via Nakasongola-Kafu. Head to Murchison Falls National Park another destination with a lot of scenery to appreciate about Uganda. You will have a lunch stop enroute in Masindi town. After lunch drive straight to the park gate located at the buffer zone. Your safari guide will do the payment for your admission into the park. Take a drive through Budongo forest to the waterfalls for a view of the greatest falls violating through a 7meter narrow gorge. The estimated volume of water passing through the gorge is 300,000cubic liters/sec, at a speed of 1.6m/s. This ultimate activity proves how powerful the falls are in the whole world. drive to Pakuba safari lodge or similar lodge. check in, have a refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Morning game drive and Boat cruise.
– Rise up early for your morning breakfast, catch up with your guide at 6:30am and head out to the savannah for your adventure. You will be able to see numerus wildlife for example leopards, Lions, elephants, spotted hyenas, side stripped jackals, warthogs, bushbucks, oribis, buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda Kobs, deffasa waterbucks, Roth’s child giraffe and many more. The delta also attracts birders, with species like the rare shoe bill stock, African jacanas, the spur-winged lapwing, white faced whistling duck, the Goliath Heron and many more birds in the savannah. Drive to the hippo pool for a breath-taking, tropical fruit tasting break, photo moment at the shores of the Albert Nile as you view blue mountains of the Democratic Republic of Congo. After your break, drive to your lodge for lunch ahead of your boat cruise.
After lunch, leave the lodge at 1:30pm and drive to the dock, embark on the boat at 2:00pm and cruise East wards of the longest Victoria Nile river to view the falls from the bottom. Here you get another scenery from a different angle and sightings of different wildlife like crocodiles, Hippos, elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs and many more. Birds like the African jacana, saddle billed stock, African fish eagle, malachite kingfisher, giant kingfisher, African darter, long tailed cormorant and more. This thrilling activity gives you a lifetime experience. This whole activity takes about 3 hours sailing back and forth. Meet your safari guide and drive back to your lodge with a mini sunset game drive.
Day 5: Transfer to Fort portal city.
This morning checkout from your lodge with all your luggage and depart for Fort Portal. Exit the park via Bungungu gate, have a stopover at the scenic viewpoint of the Butiaba escarpment and the surrounding communities. A photo moment is recommended at this point. Drive via Hoima-Kagadi-Kyenjojo through Banyoro and Batooro communities with a brief stopover for lunch in Kyenjojo town. Continue through tea estates to Fort portal city. This town was named after Sir Gerald Portal, a British diplomat who played a significant role in establishing the British colonial rule in 1893. Check-in at Kalya courts or Koi koi cultural village lodge for refreshment, relax, have dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Visit to the Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves, crater lakes and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
After taking breakfast, check out of your lodge with all your luggage and packed lunch, embark on the car and drive from your lodge for a guided walk at the Amabere-ga-yinawiru caves. The history of these caves is established on a local tale about a princess named nyina mwiru who was a daughter to king Bukuku of the Batembuzi dynasty. The king wanted the princess to marry a man of his choice, but the princess was impregnated by a man of her choice. Angered by her resistance! The king ordered for her breasts cut off and thrown into the caves due to her disobedience. The King thought her daughter would give birth to a son who would overthrow him. After the walk, embark on the car and drive to the various crater lakes. Fort portal as a region has over 50 crater which were formed as a result of volcanic eruption that violently blows the rocks, ash and larva leaving a caldera that gets filled up with rainwater thus forming a lake. Later transfer to Chimpanzee Forest lodge or Kibale Forest Lodge in Kibale Forest National Park. check in for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking, Bigodi swamp walk and community tour.
After breakfast, leave your room well dressed in trekking gears, meet your safari guide and head to the briefing center for the rules and regulations while in the forest. Meet your assigned ranger guide and embark on the trekking. The vocalization, drumming, knuckle prints, fresh nests will determine the location of the chimpanzee. As soon as you locate them, you will be given 1hour of observation, taking pictures and videos. Since Kibale is a primate capital, expect to see other primates like the grey-cheeked mangabey, olive baboons, L’Hoest monkey, red colobus, red tailed monkeys and the black and white colobus. This remarkable activity takes a maximum of 3hours. After the trekking, meet your safari guide and drive to Bigodi. Meet the local guide, who will brief you about the swamp walk. This activity will take you about 3hours covering a total distance of 4.5kilometers. The swamp is prominent for its rich biodiversity including 13 primate species like chimpanzee, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkey, 200 bird species like the great blue turaco, Hornbills and so on. Visit the Bigodi community, have lunch within the community and taste the local dishes. Also learn the African way of life, how local spirits are brewed, visit coffee plantations and get illustrations of how coffee is picked from the garden, roasted and processed locally, get entertained by traditional dancers and visit African traditional healers. Meet your safari guide and drive back to your lodge for refreshment, relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Evening game drive.
After your breakfast, double check your room and come out with all your luggage. Meet your guide and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with some stopovers at Lake Nyinambuga and Nkuruba. Continue with your drive via Kasese with a stopover at the equator point in Kikorongo. Disembark for the equator experiment and photography moments. Resume your drive through the open plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, arrive at Irungu Forest lodge or Kasenyi safari camp, check in and have your lunch, relax abit ahead of your evening game drive. The vicinity at the lodge gives you an outlook of the wonders like elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, and many more. After relaxing, head out for the evening game drive in the savannah for fascinating sightings of lions, leopards, buffaloes, antelopes of different species and many more. This drive will last for approximately 3hours, return to your lodge for refreshment, dinners and overnight.
Day 9: Morning game drive and Boat Trip.
Rise up early and have breakfast, Leave the lodge at 6:30am and head out for a game drive in the savannah. With the aid of your safari guide, look out for the four of the big five like: Lions, leopards, Cape buffaloes, African elephants. Other animals like spotted hyenas, bushbucks, Uganda Kob, Deffassa waterbucks, aardvark, honey badger, mongoose snakes to mention but a few may also be sighted. This game drive will take about 5hours, return to your lodge for lunch ahead of your 2:00pm boat cruise. Drive to Kazinga channel for your 2hours boat cruise. Kazinga channel connects lake George to Lake Edward. During the cruise, numerous birds like Cassin’s grey flycatcher, broad billed roller, black bee-eater, white pelicans, African fish eagle, little egrets, Papyrus Gonolek, pink-backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, yellow crown, water thick-knee, yellow-billed stork, African darter will be seen. You will also sight hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo’s Giant Forest hogs during the cruise. Don’t forget your camera and pair of binoculars. Meet your safari guide and return to your lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Wake up for your hot breakfast at 7:00am, Check out of your lodge with all your luggage, meet your safari guide at 8:00am and embark on a 2hours and 50minutes journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through maramagambo-Ishasha with possibilities of spotting tree climbing lions sleeping in the huge fig trees in the Ishasha sector. Continue with your drive via Kihihi and Proceed to your lodge, check in at Kiho gorilla lodge or Bakiga lodge for a hot lunch, after your lunch, head out for the Batwa(pygmies) cultural experience and learn their way of life. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi.
Take your morning breakfast to boost your energy, leave your lodge well dressed in your trekking attires and head out with packed lunch as you meet your safari guide and drive to the visitor’s information center for cultural entertainment and briefing before you head out to the jungle for gorilla trekking by 0800hrs. You will trek through the huge Bwindi forest as you search for the mountain gorillas to observe their behavior in their natural habitat, this can be half-day or longer depending on the movement of the gorillas the previous day. After tracking, meet your guide and drive back to the lodge, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park.
After your hot breakfast, check out from your lodge with your luggage at 7:00am and embark on a 218kilometers journey to Lake Mburo National Park. Drive via Kabale-Ntungamo-Mbarara. Arrive at Kigarama wilderness lodge, check in, have your hot lunch and relax ahead of your night game drive. Have your early dinner and leave for the night safari with an armed ranger. Lake Mburo is the smallest Savannah park in Uganda, reknown for its outstanding biodiversity. With the help of your safari guide, armed ranger and a spotlight that will aid your vision, nocturnal wildlife like galagos, leopard, spotted hyenas, hippos, porcupines, white tailed mongoose, owls, night jar and many more can be seen. Diurnal animals like zebras, buffaloes, giraffes can also be sighted in clusters. Retreat to your Lodge for overnight.
Day 13: Morning game drives and Boat Cruise.
After breakfast, you will be given packed lunch and head out for the morning game drive at 6:30am in search for Zebras, topis, elands, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, giraffes and ‘impalas’ which are not easily observed anywhere else in Uganda. Kampala the capital of Uganda was named after these beautiful antelopes. Along the Kigambira loop are Lakes Mburo, Kigambira and Kibikwa and klipspringers are frequent on the Kazuma track. Near Bisheshe gate there’s a rewarding site for birders. Later go for a boat trip which is cool for good sightings of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, bushbuck, and the resident otters which are rarely spotted in Uganda. Also, the striking birds which may be seen are Abyssinian ground hornbills, egrets, Ross’ Turaco, Narina trogon, the rare shoe bill stock and herons plus the elusive African finfoot associated with still water below floating branches. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 14: Transfer to Kampala city.
After breakfast, check out and depart at 9:00am for the 216kilometers journey to Kampala. Have luncheon at Kayabwe with a brief photo moment at the equator. Proceed with your drive to Kampala and check in at your prebooked hotel.
Day 15: Cultural tour.
Have enough resting time, meet your safari guide at 5:00pm and drive to Ndere cultural center for special performances and BBQ. During your visit, in a show of 3-4 hours, African cultural dance, poetry and food will be exhibited. The show is scheduled, 3 times a week: on Wednesday sherehe show from 7:00-10;00pm, on Friday ndere show from 7:00-10:00pm and on Sunday katika show from 6:00pm-9:00pm. After the show, embark on the car and be transferred back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. This day marks the end of our safari, thank you for choosing Kfir adventures limited.
