Itinerary
Day 1: Pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
On this day, you will be warmly welcomed to Uganda by our safari guide from Kfir Adventures Limited. He will brief you on this trip before setting from your starting point. Embark on the car for a 12hours journey, take a drive via Kayabwe with a stopover at the equator point. Where the imaginary line divides the earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Meet the site guide who will illustrate as to why you do not have shadow on the equinox day, and why you weigh less while on the equator line. Proceed with your drive through Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale town to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Check in at your pre-booked lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Transfer to lake Bunyonyi.
Check out with all your luggage, well dressed in your trekking attires, have your breakfast, pick your packed lunch and head to the briefing center for cultural entertainment by the Bakiga women and men from the surrounding communities. Thereafter, you will receive lectures from the ranger guide on the Do’s and Don’ts while trekking the gorillas. Speak-out in case you need a porter before the trekking session commences. You will be assigned a gorilla family to be viewed, embark on the trekking with the lead of armed rangers. The beauty of this Rain forest is amazing! The forested landscape is incredibly dense with more than 160 species of trees and over 100 species of ferns. The time taken to find the gentle giants depends on their movements. You will trek up and down the huge Bwindi forest until you locate the gorillas, when you get to them, a maximum of 1 hour will be given for photography and observation. This thrill of spending time observing these great apes is truly unforgettable. Meet your safari guide, embark on the car and drive to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda with a depth of 900metres and has 29 islands including the punishment island. Where in the past, the Bakiga girls who got pregnant before marriage were put in isolation and die from hunger. Check-in to your pre-booked lodge for some refreshment, relaxation, Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Kalinzu Forest for Chimpanzee Trekking.
Have your early breakfast at 6:00am and embark on the car, take on a drive via Kabale-Ntungamo-Ishaka through tea estates and banana plantations to Kalinzu forest, this journey takes about 3hrs and 40mins. Reach the visitor center and disembark, meet the site guide for the briefing on the rules and regulations while in the forest. The trekking activity takes 2-3 hours depending on the movements and foraging pattern of the chimpanzee, 1 hour of observation and photography will be given to you after encountering them. This moment gives you an opportunity of learning their social behaviors in the natural habitat. While in the forest, expect to see other primates like; black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons, and many more. Aves like the great blue turaco, African green broadbill, the black-billed turaco and so on, and many tree species. After Chimp Trekking, embark on a 40minutes drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park that lies in the Albertine rift. For its diverse wildlife, it hosts over 95 mammal species including the famous tree climbing lions, about 600 bird species and a unique ecosystem that includes Kyambura gorge, maramagambo forest, crater lakes and the open plains characterized by cactus trees.
Upon arrival, check in at your pre-booked Lodge for lunchbreak and later head out for a short evening Game drive in the open plains of Kasenyi, in the eastern part of the park. Expect birds like bateleur, the African crown eagle, martial eagle, long crested eagle and Mammals like the Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, Hippos, lions, leopards, Hyenas, Buffalo that highlights the significance of the park to the eco system. Retreat back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight a head of next day’s activities.
Day 4: Morning game drive and Boat cruise.
Rise up early, take breakfast and then head for a game drive in the open plains of Kasenyi at 6:30am, With the aid of your safari guide, you will be able to sight animals like Lions, leopards, bushbucks, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, hyenas, Cape buffaloes, African elephants to mention but a few. Look out for birds like Verreaux’s eagle owl, spotted eagle owl, white throated bee-eater, yellow bill, flappet lark, red-necked spurfowl to mention but a few. Drive to lake Bunyampaka one of the crater lakes that produces salt. Get illustrations from your guide on how the salt is extracted manually from the lake to the final consumer by the evaporation process. The lesser flamingos can be seen on the lake depending on the season since they are immigrant birds. Retreat to the lodge for lunch ahead of your 2pm boat cruise.
After your lunch, take a drive towards Kazinga Channel for your boat cruise. The Kazinga channel links lake George in the east to L. Edward in the west covering a distance of 40km. Sail westwards with incredible sightings of the African elephants, hippopotamus, buffaloes, monitor lizard, crocodiles, warthogs at the shores of the channel. Birds like the African white pelicans, yellow billed stork, little egrets, the common squacco heron, goliath heron, herma Kop, African fish eagle, African jacana and many more, stay focused! This cruise will last for about 2hours. Meet your guide and be driven back to the lodge for a relaxation, refreshment, dinner and overnight ahead of the next day’s journey.
Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
After your morning breakfast, meet the driver guide, embark on the car and drive to Murchison falls national park via Fort portal through Kibale Forest National Park with sighting of red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, baboons, chimpanzee and forest elephants. Drive through tea estates to Kyenjojo with a lunch break in Hoima city. Continue with your drive via the Butiaba escarpment to Buliisa. This journey takes approximately 8hours. Payments for admission at Bugungu gate will be carried out by your lead guide. Murchison Falls National Park is prominent because of its biodiversity and the re-known powerful waterfalls in the whole world. It’s a paradise boasting of over 451 bird species, more than 76 mammal species, about 500 tree species and a unique landscape that is characterized by the palm dotted savannah, woodlands, grassland and tropical rain forest. Check in at your prebooked lodge, refresh yourself, relax, have your dinner and slumber.
Day 6: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise.
As early as 6:30am after breakfast, head out to the savannah for a morning game drive in search for BIG 4 like Elephants, Lions, Leopards and Buffalos, with the aid of your safari guide. Keep looking out for herbivores animals like waterbucks, bushbucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, warthogs, oribis, Uganda kobs, giraffes, the grey duikers to mention but a few. Carnivore animals like the spotted hyenas, side stripped jackals, mongoose. Reptiles like the rock pythons, puff adders, Gabon viper, the olive bush snake, monitor lizards, chameleons and many more. Lots of Birds like the Abyssinian ground hornbill, piapiacs, helmeted Guinea fowls, the steppe eagle, Rüppell’s griffon vultures, lappet-faced vulture and so on. Have a moment of stretch at hippo pool with an overview of the blue hills from the Democratic Republic of Congo. After game drive, head back to your lodge for a lunch break until 1:45 PM. Descend to the Nile for an afternoon boat launch to the bottom of falls. The Nile plays a significant role in inhabiting marine life, basks of Nile Crocodiles, pods Hippos, flocks of birds like the European bee-eaters, pied kingfishers, long tailed cormorants, African fish eagle, cattle egrets and so on will be sighted. Regular visitors like elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, Giraffes, Buffalos will be seen at the riverbank drinking and thermal regulating. This activity will last for 3 hours. Meet your guide at dock, embark on the car and drive to the lodge. (An evening game drive can be conducted depending on your fatigue level). Have your dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Top of falls and Exit.
After your morning breakfast, drive to the world’s most powerful waterfalls for an iconic view of the falls squeezing through the 7-meter narrow gorge before it loses its youthful energy, later drops downriver to meet Lake Albert at the delta in the west. From falls, embark on the car, hit the road for Kampala or Entebbe via Masindi-Nakasongola-Luwero with a planned lunch stop enroute. Reach Kampala or Entebbe in the evening and get dropped off at your pre-booked hotel or Entebbe International Airport. End of the trip.
